Set within a quiet Glen Iris streetscape, this project explores a refined balance between material expression and spatial restraint. Studio Welgus worked closely with the broader design team to resolve the internal planning and develop a cohesive interior language that elevates everyday living. The design centres around a strong material dialogue, pairing warm timber joinery with expressive natural stone to create moments of contrast and hierarchy throughout the home. Key spaces such as the kitchen and ensuite are treated as focal points, where bolder stone selections are grounded by a restrained architectural framework. Careful attention has been given to proportion, alignment, and detailing, allowing joinery, lighting, and architectural elements to read as a unified composition. Natural light is filtered through soft layers, reinforcing a calm and considered atmosphere across all living zones.

Expected completion 2027.

RENDERINGS

"We had a fantastic experience working with Michael Welgus at Studio Welgus. Michael is an incredibly talented interior designer with a strong and highly refined design sensibility. He has a remarkable ability to create spaces that feel calm, sophisticated and deeply considered, while still being practical and highly functional. From the beginning, we felt confident that we were in very capable hands. What really stood out was Michael’s ability to understand what we were trying to achieve and then take it further. He brought clarity, creativity and a very sharp eye to every part of the process. The end result felt elevated in every sense—beautifully resolved, highly intentional and far better than we could have imagined at the outset. He was also a pleasure to work with throughout. Professional, thoughtful, responsive and detail-oriented, Michael made the process feel smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. We would highly recommend Michael and Studio Welgus to anyone seeking an interior designer with genuine vision, taste and professionalism."
